Coming of Age

This piece explores the transition from childhood to adulthood through contrasting visual languages. A realistic depiction of the face (created with layered oil paint) conveys depth and self-awareness, while the surrounding childlike drawing (done with oil pastels) reflects imagination and innocence. The composition, with the figure breaking through the surface, symbolises growth and disruption, but most importantly the passage between two stages of life. The work examines how identity is shaped by both past and present, and how personal development exists in a constant state of transformation.
